Brain aneurysms are treatable if they are detected before they rupture.

Ruptured intracranial aneurysms cause severe brain bleeds that can lead to stroke or death.

1 in 50 people have an unruptured intracranial aneurysm.

Up to 15% of people with one intracranial aneurysm have more than one.

4 out of 7 people who recover from a ruptured intracranial aneurysm have neurological deficits.

Many intracranial aneurysms show no symptoms. However, some symptoms associated with ruptured intracranial aneurysms may include:

• Sudden, severe headache
• Sensitivity to light
• Stiff neck
• Seizure
• Loss of consciousness

Dr. Mitha  Lab at the University of Calgary  Department of Neuroscience is currently working on the following project:
